Research says that planning a wedding can be extremely stressful. But it can also be a very rewarding experience. Imagine having the day of your dreams and be able to say - "I did this!"

If you are looking to have a hands on approach to your wedding planning here are a few tips:

1. Create a checklist

This first step is vital! Create a checklist (maybe utilise our wedding countdown) and track your progress against the timeline. That way you will not forget to order something or collect something.

2. Have a contact list

You should compile a list of all the contact details of all your wedding suppliers, from the vicar to the florist to the reception venue. Load the list into your mobile phone (and also your bride/groom to be) so that you are only ever a quick phone call away from any answer you might need.

3. Make a list of your guests

This needs to be done early on so that you can arrange the reception venue. Heres a tip - dont invite every Tom, Dick and Harry just because they are related tenuously by birth 3 times removed!! Have who YOU want at YOUR wedding.

4. Fix a budget

Get a figure together of what you intend to spend on your Torquay wedding (without bankrupting yourself!) Add a surplus amount for unexpected costs - I would suggest 10%
